After a rebuilding year in the 2015 season, the Lady Black Tigers have showed their maturity with a strong start to the 2016 season.  So far, the Tigers are 3-1, with their only loss against the defending state champion, the Wadsworth Grizzlies.

Leading the way for the Black Tigers are seniors Bailee Brooks and Emma Freeman.  Both have been playing varsity since their freshman year, and their experience is showing. Brooks leads the team in scoring, averaging just under 15 a game, while junior Kayla Huffman is not far behind.

Despite the great start by the Lady Black Tigers, they will need to continue their dominant performance heading into tough Suburban League play. Brooks said, “We need to keep working hard, pushing each other and ourselves in practice. We have a mindset and we need to stick to it. We need to stick with the same type of play and tempo especially with tougher games ahead of us.”

With the combination of depth and leadership, the Lady Black Tigers show no signs of slowing down and should finish the year as strong as they started.

The junior varsity Black Tigers have started the season out 1-3, but have battled hard in every game and look to improve in time for the league competition to come around.  Sophomore Natalie Barzal says her team just needs to continue to “work hard, because we can only go up from here.” The Tigers’ next game is Saturday, Dec. 10 at Hudson.
